STOLEN PRAYERS
May - August 2009
Objects: 10” Diameter
This series of scanned objects document an unobserved interaction at 10 churches in Chicago. The artist enters the church, sits in a pew and waits for a parishioner to light a candle in prayer. Once they rise from the kneeler the artist asks them for the source of their prayers. After they leave, the melted wax of the prayer candles are emptied onto an acrylic disc and archived. 4 prayers are collected from each church visit, only from visitors willing to articulate their exchange.
